2 Corinthians 8:1-11
In these verses from the Apostle Paul’s second letter to the Christians in Corinth, he points out that, despite their material wealth, they have not given to their need Christian brothers and sisters in Jerusalem. He holds up the faithful in Macedonia who – despite being poor themselves and going through their own suffering – have given eagerly and generously to Jerusalem, demonstrating that Christian giving does not depend on material circumstances but rather flows from the heart as an expression of love for Christ.
During worship on November 6, we will celebrate both All Saints Sunday and the third Sunday of our 2012 Stewardship Campaign. The convergence of these two important events on our church calendar invites us to consider how we have been inspired in our loving, serving, and giving to the church not only by the saints of the past, but also by the saints who currently sit in the pews with us. And how will our generous giving inspire the generations to come?
We hope you will join us for worship and communion on All Saints Sunday, November 6 beginning at 10 am. As part of our Remembrance of the Saints, we will read the names of saints in our church family who went home to God during this past year.
We hope you will join us!
