This Coming Sunday (and beyond)

"For I was hungry, and you gave me food..."    ~ Matthew 25:35a Help our youth tackle hunger through the SOUPER BOWL OF CARING As you leave the sanctuary this coming Sunday morning after worship, youth from our church will be holding soup pots to collect your dollar bills of any denomination to support our local food pantries. Won't you please help? Super Bowl Sunday, is a day when people all over the country will be hosting or attending parties with abundant food, friendship, and fellowship. At the same time, over 1 billion people around the world go hungry. Our youth are joining young people all over the country in doing something to change all of that. The Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-led national ecumenical grassroots movement established in 1990 to use the energy of the Super Bowl to mobilize young people in a united effort to care for those who are hungry and in need in their local communities. One hundred percent (100%) of your donations will be used to provide food assistance in the Stoughton community through the efforts of our local food pantries. No matter who wins the Super Bowl, everyone wins in the Souper Bowl of Caring! (Go Pats!) Lord, as we prepare to enjoy the Super Bowl, let us be mindful of those who do not even have a bowl of soup to eat, and may our hearts be moved to help feed those who are hungry, in the name of Christ. Amen. Healing Prayers this Sunday, February 5th  At 11:30 am, this Sunday, and on every Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of each month), Pastor Jean will be available in the sanctuary to wrap you in a prayer shawl, hear your private prayers, anoint you with oil, and lay hands on you. If you are in need of any kind of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing, or wish to pray for someone who is... If you are need of reconciliation with someone or wish to make a confession to God... If you need to share your concerns, your fears, your troubles with someone else...If you simply need to know that God cares... please come.   MAINSPRING HOUSE DINNER -WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15. Thanks to all of you who have stepped up to cook lasagna for our Feb 15 MainSpring House dinner. Please have your lasagna well wrapped and labeled in the downstairs freezer by Sunday, February 12 for delivery the next day. Salads and desserts should be left in the upstairs kitchen no later than 3 PM on Wednesday, February 15 for the servers to bring over with them. Our church will be serving dinner at MainSpring House in Brockton on Wednesday, February 15. God bless you for your generosity. Please keep up the wonderful work! Sunday Evening Lenten Study "BENEATH THE CROSS: LETTERS FROM A GOOD FRIDAY WORLD" Sundays, 7 to 8:30 pm February 12 through March 25 This study focuses on a fictional series of letters that were "written" on Good Friday immediately after the death of Jesus. The letters could not be mailed the next day, as it was the Sabbath. By Sunday, the world had changed. These "letters" are intended to teach and to provoke thought about the importance of Christ's resurrection.
