As we observe Memorial
Sunday and Memorial Day this weekend, we extend our gratitude to all who have
served our country.
The World War II service
banner hangs on the sanctuary wall in remembrance and honor of all those men and
women who have defended our country in war time. It was originally presented to
the church by the Sunday School in May, 1943. Each of its 142 stars represents a
person associated with the church. The six gold stars represent those who gave
their lives.

Haitian Children's
Clothing Appeal
Month of May
On Sunday May 6, Gyneth McGarvey requested donations of used summer
clothing for the children of Haiti, (Sizes 4T to Size 8).
A group of nurses will be going to Haiti in June to help with medical
needs and distribute the clothing.
Gyneth went to St. Vincent DePaul's on Canton Street and purchased 5
pair of shorts and 7 tops for $15.
If you're able to donate, there's a box in the Narthex with the
Haitian flag on the front and small signs denoting "Haitian Children's
Clothing." Thank you for any help you can give.
If you have any questions, call Gyneth McGarvey 781-344-9143.
Thank you for helping our neighbors just south of
Florida.

Happy Birthday

Sunday is typically considered
to be the birthday of the Christian church. We celebrate that birthday right
here at First Congregational Church as well. And what is a birthday without any
presents?
We hope that you will help
us by bringing a gift to keep our church running smoothly and help stretch the budget. There is a

AREA RUGS AVAILABLE
FOR SALE:
We received a generous donation of several
area rugs of varying sizes for Attic Treasures. Rather than store them till next fall, we wanted to offer
them for sale now.
The rugs are currently in the open area
outside the music room with prices ranging from $15-60. Two have already been
sold.
If you are interested, please
contact
Nancy Sullivan in the church
office(781-344-2371).
Many thanks to Bill and Laura Murphy, friends
of Russ and Stephanie Clough, for this donation as well as many others
throughout the years.

Strengthen the Church
Special Offering
Sunday June 3
Next Sunday, June 3, we will be receiving the Strengthen the Church
special mission offering of the United Church of Christ. This offering builds
the UCC's future. It funds new congregations and renews existing ones. It
supports programs for youth and young adults and nurtures current and future
leaders. And it aids the God is Still Speaking Ministry to spread our message of
inclusivity.
We ask that you give generously to this special offering. Thank
you!
Spread the Love.
Strengthen the
Church.
God is still speaking.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry
usually take a hiatus during the
summer months, but this year they are undertaking a new venture and would like
YOU to be part of
it!
This summer, we invite knitters and
crocheters to join us at our regular time on Wednesdays from 10 to
11:30 AM in the Fireplace Room. We will provide you with all the necessary supplies and
instructions to make a few small items to help the Friendly Service Group
raise money to ship their
packages for the upcoming year.
Our FUN IN THE SUN
table, which will be available
at Coffee Hour on a couple of Sundays during the June & July, will display
handmade summer goods such as market/beach bags, sun hats, sunglass cases, and
water bottle holders.
So please come and join us for a time of fellowship and
bonding in a very caring mission. We hope you'll join us!
